Sega announces Demon Slayer game in English, set to release this year

Sega has announced that an English version of the highly anticipated Demon Slayer game, Kimetsu no Yaiba: Hinokami Keppūtan, will be released under the title Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles, sometime this year. The game, developed by CyberConnect2, the studio behind the popular game Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, and Southeast Asia.

In addition to the original Japanese voiceovers, the game will also have English voiceovers available, with subtitles available in English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. However, it is still unclear if the game will be released in Europe or North America.

The game features a “Solo Mode” that follows the series protagonist, Tanjiro, adapting events from the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba anime. Additionally, there is a “Versus Mode” that allows players to choose their favorite characters from the series and fight head-to-head locally or online.

The current list of characters that will appear in the game includes Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke, Zenitsu, Giyu, Sabito, Makomo, Shinobu, Urokodaki, and Rengoku. Fans of the series will be excited to know that Shinobu Kocho was recently added as a playable character.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a popular manga series written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge that has sold over 150 million copies worldwide. The anime adaptation of the series aired between April and September of 2019 and was followed by the sequel film, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train, which released in North America last month and earned $19.5 million in its first weekend. With the upcoming release of the Demon Slayer game, fans of the franchise have a lot to look forward to.
