In the Naruto universe, one of the most compelling storylines is the bond between the Hokage and Kurama, the nine-tailed fox demon. Naruto, who suffered greatly as a child after his parents were killed in battle against the Nine Tails, was chosen to be the host of the powerful creature without his knowledge. Over time, Naruto managed to gain Kurama’s trust and form a partnership with the demon, using its chakra to become an incredibly powerful fighter.
However, in the spinoff manga “Naruto: Sasuke’s Story — The Uchiha and the Heavenly Stardust,” a major issue with Naruto’s Kurama partnership is revealed. In chapter 3 of the manga, Sasuke and Sakura discuss Naruto’s health, with Sakura revealing that the medical team in the Hidden Leaf Village suspects that Kurama’s essence inside Naruto has been hindering his chakra flow and affecting his energy, similar to a “chakra cancer.” This news comes as a shock to Sasuke, who is already on a mission to find a cure for Naruto’s mysterious ailment.
The revelation that Kurama’s chakra may have been causing health problems for Naruto raises questions about the safety of other jinchūriki, the human hosts of the Tailed Beasts. It also creates a new concern for Naruto’s family, as they could have been exposed to the same risk. This could lead to the idea of the jinchūriki being abandoned altogether, and raises the question of whether other hosts, such as Gaara, might have also suffered from similar health issues.
As the first Hokage, Hashirama Senju, died of natural causes, it is clear that Kurama’s chakra has long-lasting effects that need to be explored further. Hopefully, Sasuke’s quest for a cure will shed more light on this issue and reveal any potential terminal effects on Naruto’s health.
