Spoilers reveal that a character’s path of war in My Hero Academia chapter 386 may lead them to Bakugo

Chapter 386 of My Hero Academia sets the stage for what could be a climactic battle between the former Symbol of Peace, All Might, and his greatest enemy, the villainous All For One. The stakes are high as All For One has been on a warpath, taking out both heroes and villains left and right. As he grows more powerful, he draws closer to Tomura Shigaraki and Deku through his use of Eri’s Rewind quirk.

But the hero who will finally put an end to All For One’s reign may not be All Might, Deku, or even Shigaraki. Based on hints and thematic setup, it’s becoming increasingly likely that All For One’s defeat will be at the hands of Katsuki Bakugo. Bakugo has been out of commission ever since Shigaraki brutally killed him, but the time is fast approaching for him to rejoin the battle and play a new role.

By facing Shigaraki, Bakugo can confront his past and who he could have become without Deku in his life. Saving All Might from certain death at the hands of a young All For One could be a perfect place to reintroduce Bakugo. He’s never had a primary villain of his own, as most of his conflicts have been internal. However, All For One’s current age and personality represent everything Bakugo used to be: angry, arrogant, and confident in his own ability to be the strongest in the world.

Facing All For One allows Bakugo to have a fight where he can prove himself and become a complete hero who rescues people along with winning. He will finally acknowledge that while he isn’t the main character, he still has an important role to play in this final war. All For One in Shigaraki’s body has already recognized Bakugo as someone who infuriates him, which sets up their eventual true battle.

While Bakugo likely won’t be able to finish off All For One, thematically it makes the most sense for the mighty villain to be killed by Shigaraki. However, the dominoes have been set up to where Bakugo can stop All For One’s rampage and complete his character arc all in one grand battle. My Hero Academia can finally give him his big villain fight, have him surpass All Might by defeating his greatest enemy, and cement his place as a true hero in the story.
