Chapter 358 of Black Clover sets the stage for Mereoleona’s new attack, thanks to the sacrifices of the Crimson Lion Squad

In the latest chapter of Black Clover, chapter 358, readers were given a closer look at the intense battle between Mereoleona and Paladin Morris. The previous chapter left off with Green Mantis Captain Jack the Ripper unleashing his final slash before passing away, taking down several stray angels and splitting the ground in two. Meanwhile, Mereoleona was shown to be in trouble after losing her left arm while fighting against Paladin Morris.

Chapter 358, titled Flame Burial, opened with Mereoleona regenerating her disintegrated arm using her Hellfire Incarnate ability, which impressed Morris. He revealed the details about the body that was passed down to him by Lucius Zogratis, allowing him to break down anything he touched using Operation Dismantle. Although Mereoleona found a counter to his ability by regenerating her decomposed body parts, Morris had the upper hand due to his Operation Dismantle and tentacles’ faster regeneration speeds.

As the battle continued, the Crimson Lion Magic Knights knew that Mereoleona needed to burn Morris to defeat him, but her body would not be able to hold out for long at that rate. Nevertheless, Mereoleona kept fighting, hoping to find an opening when Morris would reach his limit. Meanwhile, Fuegoleon fought the angels while protecting the citizens on top of the Fire Spirit Salamander.

During the fight, Mereoleona was in a vulnerable spot when two Crimson Lion members shielded her from Morris’s tentacles. She took this opportunity to incinerate both her brigade members and the tentacles, allowing her to connect her attacks. Other Crimson Lion members then shielded Mereoleona, allowing her to attack Morris once again.

Morris started to shout Lucius’ ideology about recreating everyone as equals, but Mereoleona was not interested and prepared a new move. Her Hellfire Incarnate’s flames grew with every attack, turning the fire into an inferno. This allowed her to activate her new move, Calidos Brachium Purgatory: Flame Burial, paying tribute to her fallen brigade members and burning herself and Morris to ashes.

Overall, chapter 358 showed how Mereoleona planned to defeat Morris but left readers wondering if she would burn herself to ashes in the process. It’s possible that Fuegoleon or another Magic Knight will come to her aid before it’s too late, as the Clover Kingdom cannot afford to lose another powerful fighter.
