“My Hero Academia” manga on 2-week hiatus due to creator’s health

The official Twitter account for the “My Hero Academia” manga made an announcement on Thursday stating that the manga will be taking a two-week hiatus due to creator Kōhei Horikoshi’s poor health. The manga was originally set to have a new chapter released in the 10th issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on Sunday, but it will now be returning in the magazine’s 12th issue on February 20.

This isn’t the first time that Horikoshi has had to take a break due to his health. The manga also took a one-week hiatus in December of last year. Despite these breaks, “My Hero Academia” remains one of the most popular manga series currently being published. The series was first launched in Weekly Shonen Jump in July 2014 and has since garnered a massive following both in Japan and internationally. The manga’s 37th compiled book volume was recently released in Japan on Friday.

For English-speaking audiences, the manga is available digitally and in print in North America through Viz Media. Shueisha’s MANGA Plus service also publishes the manga in English digitally. The anime series has also been extremely successful, with multiple seasons and OVAs released since the first 13-episode season premiered in April 2016.

The sixth season of the anime premiered on October 1 and is currently airing in Japan. It will air for two continuous cours (quarter of a year) for a total of 25 episodes. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime as it airs in Japan, and an English dub is also available. Additionally, Toonami is currently airing the anime.

Despite the hiatus of the manga, fans can still enjoy the ongoing anime series as they eagerly await the return of the manga with a new chapter in February.
