Kim Yeon-koung, the current captain of South Korea’s national volleyball team, has garnered worldwide recognition for her exceptional skills on the court. Recently, she reviewed a clip from the second season of the popular volleyball anime, Haikyu!!, on her YouTube channel. The clip she reviewed featured the match between Aoba Josai and Karasuno, and she was highly impressed with the level of play depicted in the anime.
In the video, which is available with English subtitles, Kim praised the creator of the Haikyu!! manga series, Haruichi Furudate, for his deep knowledge of volleyball. She also expressed her surprise at the high-level plays that were depicted in the anime. This praise from Kim is especially significant as she herself has played volleyball at the highest levels, including leading her team, JT Marvelous, to victory in Japan.
Kim Yeon-koung has been recognized as one of the top volleyball players in the world, with a unique combination of power, technique, and speed that has earned her comparisons to players from Russia, the United States, Japan, and Brazil. She won the Most Valuable Player award at the 2012 London Olympic Games and has been a key player for South Korea’s national team.
