Sentai Filmworks has announced that it has licensed the third season of the immensely popular sports anime, “Haikyu!!,” for an English dub. The series, which first aired in Japan in 2016, has been a fan favorite ever since its debut, garnering a huge following among anime enthusiasts, particularly those with a love for sports anime. The series revolves around the main character Shoyo Hinata, who is inspired by a professional volleyball player despite his small stature, and creates a volleyball team in his final year of middle school. The team’s first match is against Tobio Kageyama’s team, who is known as the “King of the Court,” and they suffer a crushing defeat. Determined to surpass Kageyama, Hinata vows to improve and enters high school, where he joins the volleyball team only to find that Kageyama has also joined.
While the announcement of the English dub of the third season is exciting news for fans of the series, there is still no concrete information about the upcoming new project that was revealed during Jump Festa 2019. Fans are eagerly anticipating the next anime outing for “Haikyu!!,” but details about the nature of the project are scarce. More information is expected to be revealed during a special event for the franchise in September.
The “Haikyu!!” manga, which has sold over 28 million copies to date, was originally created by Haruichi Furudate for Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in 2012. The anime adaptation has three seasons from Production I.G. under its belt, and the first two seasons are already available with English dubs. The series has been licensed for an English language release by Viz Media, and all seasons can be found streaming on Crunchyroll.
