Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba fans around the world have been eagerly awaiting the release of Season 3, and the premiere episode did not disappoint. The third season of the anime is part of the new wave of anime shows scheduled to hit screens in the Spring of 2023. This new season will see the Demon Slayer Corps face their toughest challenges yet as they take on the Swordsmith Village Arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga series.
The premiere episode of Demon Slayer Season 3, titled “Swordsmith Village Arc Episode 1,” starts with Tanjiro Kamado recovering from the events of the Entertainment District Arc, which concluded in the previous season. With his sword still broken, Tanjiro heads to the Swordsmith Village to figure out his next steps. Along the way, he encounters a child who is defending something from a man who we later find out is Muichiro Tokito, the Mist Hashira.
The final moments of the episode leave fans on a cliffhanger as Tanjiro spots Muichiro arguing with the child over an object that seems to be familiar to Tanjiro. Muichiro keeps a calm and disinterested poker face, which leaves fans wondering what he wants with the object and why he is in the village.
The premiere also reintroduces fans to the Love Hashira, Mitsuri Kanroji, who was last seen in the Mugen Train Arc. This season promises to bring in two more of the Hashira into the fight, fulfilling the promise made at the end of Season 1. As the Demon Slayer Corps face their toughest challenges yet, fans can expect to see the strongest fighters in action.
While fans are excited to see more of the Hashira and their battles, many are also interested in the story of Tanjiro’s father, Tanjuro Kamado. Despite not being a key character, Tanjuro had a significant impact on Tanjiro’s life, teaching him the Hinokami Kagura and the Transparent World and Selfless State techniques. Tanjuro also passed down the Hanafuda earnings to Tanjiro, which has led to much speculation about the Kamado family’s history and connection to the Demon Slayer Corps.
