Demon Slayer to have a new stage play for ‘Entertainment District Arc’

The announcement of the “Entertainment District Arc” stage play adaptation comes as the Demon Slayer franchise continues to gain immense popularity both in Japan and internationally. The franchise, which started as a manga series in February 2016, has since expanded to include a television anime series, a movie, and multiple stage plays.

The first stage play adaptation of Demon Slayer ran in Tokyo in January 2020 and later in Kobe in January and February of the same year. The success of the first play led to the production of subsequent adaptations, including the “Mugen Train Arc” and the “Entertainment District Arc” plays, both of which have already premiered in Japan.

The upcoming “Entertainment District Arc” stage play will feature Shōgo Sakamoto as the main protagonist, Tanjirō Kamado, while Karen Takahashi, Keisuke Ueda, Yugo Sato, and Ryoshiro Tsuji reprise their roles as Nezuko Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma, Inosuke Hashibara, and Tengen Uzui, respectively. The play will be directed and written by Kenichi Suemitsu, with music composed by Shunsuke Wada.

In addition to the stage plays, Demon Slayer has also inspired a traditional Noh-Kyōgen stage play that premiered in Tokyo and Osaka in 2022. The franchise’s popularity has also led to the production of multiple anime adaptations, including the highly successful “Mugen Train Arc” and “Entertainment District Arc” anime series, both of which have been streamed internationally on platforms such as Funimation and Crunchyroll.
